Out of the box, FacilitiesMap has the power to revolutionize the way that you view and utilize your assets and information. FacilitiesMap is a web-based tool that allows any authorized internet-connected PC the ability to view agency information. We have spent the last 10 years helping agencies such as yours maximize their GIS investment. Some of the features of FacilitiesMap include:
- : Anytime that you log into the site, you will need to enter your username and password. Only users approved by you can get in. Also, based on their authorization level, only certain users can view certain information.
- : Parcels can be quickly searched based on address or APN. Selecting an address will zoom the map to the desired location and display basic information about the parcel. Notice the simple toolbar at the top that allows common functions to be performed efficiently. A left frame InfoBar ™ provides quick searching capability and basic selection information. Layers can be selectively enabled to customize the view to your needs.
- : Let’s say that we want some basic information on our water system. We would turn off the layers that didn’t concern our inquiry (e.g., sewer and storm drain). Next we would zoom in to our area of interest. Selecting a water line, we see that we have an 190.59’ 8” water line running in front of City Hall.
- : We can easily attach notes and documents to any selectable map object. If we wanted to tell the GIS Coordinator that this water main is really a 10” pipe and that it needs to be corrected, we would simply leave him a note. Bill (our fictitious GIS Coordinator) could then search for notes that were addressed to him or these notes could automatically be mailed to him.
- and : Left bar tools allow you to do more complicated tasks like drawing a buffer around the current selection. Suppose, for example, the City wishes to replace the current water pipe with a higher capacity main. Per City policy, you must notify everyone within 500 feet that there will be road construction. Your administrative staff could select a map object and draw a selection buffer of 500 feet around the object. FacilitiesMap automatically selects all parcels that intersect this buffer. By simply selecting the LBL (label) toolbar button, you can automatically generate mailing labels. What used to take you a full day now takes you 2 minutes.
